UGG Chronicles Ep. 183 | “Ye Tune Kya Kiya” Bass Cover I was jamming along to this song to quite a while, and finally got around to covering it. Not perfect, ik, but it was fun to play, and it reminds me of undergrad days! This was recorded ~Dec ’24

UGG Chronicles Ep. 182 | Creed - Higher Guitar Cover It seems like these days I am on a roll, just covering some comfort songs when I finally get the mood. All these are quite straightforward to play, and really fun! Creed specifically reminds me of ~2013, when I used to listen to them on my iPod. I’m really grateful to be able to make a cover at this point in my life. I was making and uploading a lot back then as well, and looking back, the 15/16 year old me would be blown away with the gear present me has acquired haha. This was recorded ~Dec ’24

UGG Chronicles Ep. 181 | Chris Stapleton - Starting Over Guitar Cover This is one of those songs that s simple, but hits very hard. I’d been meaning to cover it for a while, and the times now just seem perfect for it. This is where a good acoustic guitar really shines! This was recorded ~Dec ’24

UGG Chronicles Ep. 180 | Green Day - Wake me up when September ends This one is a really, really special episode for me. This is a song which I learnt in the very early days of learning the guitar (also, something that got me into playing music way back in 7th standard). I have been so very fortunate to be able to see Green Day play this (along with practically all their greatest hits) on tour this year, and I am so grateful for it. Tbh, this is very much a 13-year old me’s dreams come true! This was recorded ~Dec ’24

UGG Chronicles Ep. 178 | Blues Society of Central PA Jam (Full Song) This is from the halloween jam, and perhaps one of the best ones I’ve had. It was the last set, and so much fun to play! UGG Chronicles Ep. 176 | One Direction - Night Changes Slide Cover This one was really a UGG for slide playing. The last time I did something like this was perhaps “Mr. Blue”. Anyways, amazing song to play over. This was recorded ~Oct ’24

UGG Chronicles Ep. 175 | Slash - Fill My World Guitar Cover Back to my roots! This one was a really fun song that I learnt last night. I have to admit, I haven’t really followed much of Slash’s solo work after Apocalyptic Love and before Orgy of the Damned (which btw, is perfect timing), and this is one of those hidden gems. Also, the song reminds me of “Starlight”, which is one of my favourties! This was recorded ~Oct ’24

UGG Chronicles Ep. 174 | Phineas and Ferb - Queen of Mars Bass Cover This show was quite a major part of my childhood (I remember ~2006/8 when I used to watch it) it was so much fun, and the music was really phenomenal for a kids show. I came across it on YouTube a while back, and this seemed like a fun, easy song to do! It’s another comfort zone for the big changes happening elsewhere. Might end up doing quite a bit of Phineas and Ferb in the coming future haha. This was recorded ~Sept ’24

UGG Chronicles Ep. 173 | Sabrina Carpenter - Espresso Bass Cover It’s after a very, very long time that I came across a pop bassline that’s super catchy and fun. This was a tough one to learn, and definitely one that UGG’s. I’ve been playing the album quite a bit recently, and it’s super fun! This was recorded ~Sept ’24

UGG Chronicles Ep. 172 | Veil of Maya - Outsider Guitar Cover Upping 7 string game is a different game tbh. The grooves are really, really fun, but I still am not used to the massive 27-inch scale length of this Ibanez. As I have said multiple times before, metal has a very special place in my heart, and it’s just so satisfying to be able to do it properly! This was recorded ~Sept ’24

UGG Chronicles Ep. 170 | Sept Eve Acoustic Improv So, this one was just to dust up them cobwebs, and I was trying to use repetition, but turns out it gets boring after the first few tries, so this is the clip of like the second time I tried this idea out. UGG Chronicles Ep. 169 | Cory Wong - Flamingo Solo Cover I had the good fortune of catching a Cory Wong show in Denver earlier this year, and it was so fun! Was my first funk concert, and it was such a nice different vibe. I had been practicing this solo for about a a week or two now. Wanted to do this song ever since I first came across it. I could have worked a bit more on the tone, but I didn’t get around to doing it. Haven’t messed with the proc for a while. Anyways/regardless, today was an especially nice day to do/upload this as this morning I ran my first 5k! This was recorded ~Aug ’24

UGG Chronicles Ep. 168 | Late Aug Night Improv This is something that I want to re-ignite. The Hendrix/SRV/Mayer thumb-over-6th-string kinda playing. I had a really nice blues night, and that got me more motivated to play again, so this is just a little clip from my noodlings (tbh, quite a bit inebriated) This was recorded ~Aug ’24

UGG Chronicles Ep. 167 | SOJA - Everything Changes Acoustic Improv I had the chance to see SOJA a few weeks ago, and it was such a vibe. I haven’t really been playing much these days unfortunately, not really sure why. I wanted to upload something atleast, so this is literally the only take I had after one run-though, and it felt right. It’s really hard to get back up on the horse once you’ve been off for a while, but hey, this is why I have UGG here. This was recorded ~Aug ’24

UGG Chronicles Ep. 165 | Unplugged Slapping This is a tiny clip from the archives. Have been slapping since like 2013, but am yet to make it more than just a party trick on the guitar. It’s super useful for rhythms tho. This was recorded ~Dec ’22

UGG Chronicles Ep. 164 | KALEO - All the Pretty Girls Guitar Cover This is one of those songs (and by extension artists) that just grew on me over time, and although the music isn’t that complicated, the overall vibe is just something else, which I absolutely love. Figured this one by ear (and you can still see me piecing things as I play long lol). These days I don’t log much into insta, it’s not quite what it used to be. I just hope this archive is preserved tho. This was recorded ~July ’24

UGG Chronicles Ep. 163 | Lil Yachty - Running out of time Bass Cover This artist is wayyy different from the ones that I usually cover, but this album was introduced to me by a friend, and while his previous work is not really my cup of tea, but this album is sooo good. Very modern, and this song in particular stood out to me.. the bass was quite catchy, and I’m proud to say that I figured this part out by ear! This was recorded ~July ’24

UGG Chronicles Ep. 160 | Sloppy Folksy Acoustic Improv Just put up a camera in front when I was noodling around with this idea. Could have something in it if I manage to get it tighter. This clip is laden with mistakes lol, would be fun to look back at it later This was recorded ~June ’24

UGG Chronicles Ep. 159 | “Soch Na Sake” Acoustic Guitar Cover Ear training, like any other skill gets easier the more you do it. The chords here seemed to fit in nicely thankfully. This was a 2-day thing for a song that I just stumbled upon. Would be pretty fun to play live tbh. Also, just restrung the Martin recently, and it’s even more fun to play now lol. UGG Chronicles Ep. 158 | The 1975 - Chocolate Guitar Cover I need more songs like these in my life. It’s just so fun to listen and jam along to. Not a super accurate version, but so much fun. Having fx to mess around with is perfect for a piece like this. Not quite sure how I stumbled upon The 1975, but I am so glad I did. This was recorded ~May ’24

UGG Chronicles Ep. 157 | BB King - The Thrill is Gone Guitar Improv Perhaps no other song fits the definition of the blues so much so as this textbook standard. This was a (second) improv after a long, fun day! (In instances like these, the first improv always seems better in my head, but it never gets recorded, so much so like some performances in the blues nights) But I’m happy to get this on tape, courtesy of @esareej This was recorded ~May ’24

UGG Chronicles Ep. 156 | Periphery - It’s Only Smiles Rhythm Guitar Cover There could be no other song more fitting than this as my first to learn on a 7 string. It has to be one of the most tedious UGGs, and perhaps one of my most difficult ones. Loads of mistakes in this take, but this is worlds better than where I was This was recorded ~May ’24

UGG Chronicles Ep. 155 | Chris Stapleton - Tennessee Whiskey Guitar Cover I’d jammed to this song a couple of times before last year, but it was after last week’s blues jam that I really wanted to record it. It was super fun to play on stage (it was actually my second time up there that day!), and the PRS was sounding so good! It kinda sounds sharp in the recording, but omg, it was such a pleasure that night! Also, this is one of those times where I just didn’t feel the need to play leads. It’s just 2 chords, but it’s such a vibe! This was recorded ~Apr ’24

UGG Chronicles Ep. 154 | Katy Perry - Firework Bass Cover Another one that was on the list for a while now. Amazing song to get into playing the bass for sure. UGG Chronicles Ep. 151 | Miley Cyrus - Party in the USA Guitar Cover Seemed like an apt time to cover this song, even though I am pretty sure the USA now is way different than the one Miley partied in lol. It’s pretty much the same riff throughout the song, so added some wah to keep it interesting! This was recorded ~Apr ’24

UGG Chronicles Ep. 150 | The Goo Goo Dolls - Iris, Acoustic Cover Okay, so this one’s special. I remember hearing this song for the first time on top of a rock, from a friend’s phone on a school trip back in 2012. It hit me like a ton of bricks, and it’s only a few other songs that have had that much of an impact on me. I’ve been wanting to cover it since the YouTube days, and I reckon I am finally at that point in my life where I’d want to do it. Also, this is the 100th episode of when I restarted UGG a year and a few months back. Things have changed oh-so-much, and I am supremely grateful for where I am right now. This was recorded ~Mar ’24

UGG Chronicles Ep. 149 | Taylor Swift - The Way I Loved You Bass Cover Sometimes, all you need are root notes and the memories of the first time you heard a song. Sure, stuff like this is easy to play, but it’s equally as tricky to get the dynamics and the timings right.. always a magical feeling when it all just clicks! This was recorded ~Mar ’24

UGG Chronicles Ep. 148 | Steel Panther - Eyes of a panther Guitar Cover Steel Panther is one of a kind, and it’s my (or rather was, I mostly just listen to the old stuff) go to band to just get a shot of enthu. I have been jamming along to this record since like 2010, and this song is just such a pleasure to play on the PRS and Bassbreaker! Took a few tries to get into the groove, but it was worth it. UGG Chronicles Ep. 146 | Jasleen Royal - Sang Rahiyo Bass Cover I’m pretty sure I must’ve mentioned this in another Jasleen Royal cover, but there is just something about her voice that does it for me.. and playing bass over this was quite reminiscent of my time in Octavium.. it’s quite fun jamming out to Bollywood pop on the bass! UGG Chronicles Ep. 145 | Jonas Brothers - Burnin’ Up Guitar Improv It was after literal ages that I heard this song again this afternoon. Am proud to say that I got all of this by ear, and didn’t even check for correctness as the vibe was just so good. I didn’t originally plan to improv over the whole thing, but it was just so fun in the moment! The sound is just the PRS straight into the Bassbreaker. Tube amps are just something else! UGG Chronicles Ep. 143 | Taylor Swift - Champagne Problems Guitar Cover There was just something about “Folklore” and “Evermore” that just does it for me. I remember listening to them back to back during the lockdowns. It seems like a completely different time. And as far as this song goes, I’d wanted to do a piano cover (since it’s just like 4 chords), but I don’t have a piano at my disposal anymore sadly. I’d been a bit out of practice, so this was a good song to get back in the groove. This was recorded ~Feb ’24

UGG Chronicles Ep. 142 | Linkin Park - Papercut Bass Cover It’s always fun to play a song where I get to use the lower B string on the bass… and I guess this is the first song I’m recording with distorted bass. Was really fun to jam to for sure. Back in school, I knew of Linkin Park (they were all the rage back then), but I only discovered this song years and years later. Anyways, might do more LP stuff later. This was recorded ~Feb ’24

UGG Chronicles Ep. 141 | Blues Night Jam So, this is another clip from the thumbnail night blues jam at champs bar. I am glad that I have been fairly consistent in going there (It really helps with confidence for sure). Def liking my American experience here. I’m not sure what exactly is up with my face and expressions, but guess I have to work to make it better lol. UGG Chronicles Ep. 140 | Chris Stapleton - Arkansas Guitar Cover Guess this is just one of those fun blues jams. I have been listening to a lot of Chris Stapleton’s stuff and it really grew on me. There’s just something about this style of country music that makes me keep coming back. Anyways, things are pretty swell, and this reminds me of the thu night blues jam (was there last night lol), and how just playing out can increase your confidence, regardless of the outcome! UGG Chronicles Ep. 139 | Lamb of God - Redneck Guitar Cover As I have mentioned before, there is a very special place for metal in my heart. This particular style needed a getting used to, but omg is it fun to play. I get it, it’s not everyone’s cuppa tea, but damn, is it some good tea. Also, the PRS handles this very well! UGG Chronicles Ep. 138 | “Iktara” Acoustic Solo Cover So, this clip is about a year and a half at this point. Was just going through my archives and saw this. Thought I’d do a better cover (or heck, even look more presentable), but omg the tone of the Martin makes up for all of that. Remember, this is just straight through the phone’s camera mic. June of ’22 was quite the summer for me, nothing like what was to come the following year, but knowing that, it’s nice to look back at these clips. This was recorded ~Jun ’22

UGG Chronicles Ep. 136 | Guitar Improv - ‘Betheny’ Guess this is one of those times where I ended up playing electric stuff on an acoustic. Should learn more acoustic stuff, but as the track progressed, my muscle memory kicked in! Anyways, it was fun recording this. Also, I moved to a new place, was a long time coming. Not sure why I named this improv ‘Betheny’. Guess I just like to name things. This was recorded ~Jan ’24
